Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Hsinchu County American School (HCAS), a school that focuses on educating the whole child! It’s my privilege to lead a team a team of committed professionals devoted to the school’s mission of fostering, “healthy, creative, social, and globally minded individuals who can think independently and critically.”
Located in beautiful Zhubei, Taiwan, HCAS believes that education is essential in creating life-changing, positive impacts for our students and the wider world. As a WASC-accredited private school with a rigorous US curriculum, we strive to instill a vital combination of intellectual, social, and emotional attributes to better prepare our graduates to live their best lives and be the change leaders of tomorrow. Inspired by the Dalton Plan and embracing its core concepts, we integrate challenging academic courses with student freedom to explore areas of their own interest, while also fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration. At HCAS, we strongly believe that this multifaceted approach is critical for developing the type of leaders most likely to create a better world.
We are understandably proud and thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates who are now moving on to be those leaders. The Class of 2025 (28 students) has gone on to universities and colleges of their choosing in various parts of the world and been awarded scholarships of over NTD 58.4 million. This year we have 30 prospective graduates in the class of 2026. We look forward to their future achievements as well and to even more growth and success for the entire HCAS family.
Our school motto means, “we shall either find a way or make one.” This attitude is not only behind HCAS’s past attainments but is also our core mindset of problem-solving, creativity, and searching for continuous improvement. These same ideas are at the heart of one of my favorite quotes, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” This shared mentality forms the essence of the close-knit HCAS community and will continue to drive not only our shared successes in the coming year, but also in the years to come.
Welcome again to HCAS, and join with the hard work of our students, parents, teachers and staff to see what we all can accomplish together!
Go Lions!
